Words can tell it, but if a picture is truly worth a thousand words, why not show it?
The members of Santa Clara’s First Presbyterian Church enjoy serving within a community of fun, caring, loving, connected individuals. We are called on to reflect the spirit of God to all the world. That happens in a myriad of ways, many of which go unnoticed. But not all. The photo albums within this section of our website will hopefully help to give a sense of who we are, how we live, and why we love.
Do you have photos you’d like to share and see on these pages? If so, please let us know…
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
The annual Christmas dinner provides church members a chance to meet as a church family and celebrate the birth of the Messiah, the one spoken of by the prophets of old. A time to acknowledge what we deem important to remember: that Christ Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas.
Our chili cook off is a fun annual event which takes place in the fall (usually October). The cooks and bakers in our congregation (and we have many) put their skills to the test during the friendly chili and pie competitions. An event celebrating the three important Fs: food, friends, and fun.
We live in a truly beautiful part of the country. But because there’s a lot going on at any given time, we sometimes forget to head outside to appreciate the wonders of God’s creation.
One solution: go take a hike.
We always get together once or twice a year during the summer months to indulge in the joys of a summer picnic. These events provide folks a chance to appreciate in full measure the gift of our Northern California summers. There’s much to be said for enjoying barbecued munchables and outdoor games on a warm summer day.
Holidays are always made special by the people in the Church Life group. Cakes, decorations, and special menus put folks in a proper frame of frame of mind and help to kick start the festivities. It’s always worth seeing what’s going on during a holiday coffee hour. So why not stop on in and see what the buzz is all about?
A small committee from the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Clara decided to take it upon themselves to investigate whether God did in fact make little green apples. Their conclusion? Yes He did. He also made yummy ice cream and fun-filled days. Hallelujah!
Some photos showing front and back office operations, things like projects involving front or back office support functions, the Sunday sound room, Francis setting up for Coffee Hour, the dedicated staff who instruct our young ones, etc. Everything you always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask.
Photos providing witness to some of the crazy antics of the Buildings and Grounds crew. There’s always something that needs fixing, upgrading, sprucing, or maintaining. And we have a small dedicated team to do just that. If it has to do with church buildings or grounds, you’ll find it here.
Miscellaneous photos falling under the category serendipitous encounters. We live in a small valley, we were bound to run into each other outside of the church walls…
